NEWS Breaking: Manchester City vs Arsenal postponed due to coronavirus fears
The Premier League have postponed Wednesday’s clash between Manchester City and Arsenal as a precautionary measure in the ongoing virus threat.
The fixture had initially been delayed due to City’s cup commitments and is now the latest fixture in Europe to be postponed because of the coronavirus fears.
The decision to postpone the game was made after it was revealed Arsenal staff had come into contact with Olympiacos owner, Evangelos Marinakis, who has been diagnosed with coronavirus.
The Gunners released a statement yesterday that none of their staff had symptoms of the virus after news broke of the Olympiacos president.
As a precautionary measure, some select players are feared to have come in contact with Evangelos and the Arsenal squad and staff will now remain in isolation for 14 days.
“Following yesterday’s news that Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis has recently contracted Covid-19, we have been taking medical advice and tracing any individuals who had what the guidelines define as close contact with him at the game 13 days ago,” an Arsenal club statement read.
“As a result of this exercise we identified that a number of players met the Olympiacos owner immediately following the game.
“The medical advice we have received puts the risk of them developing Covid-19 at extremely low.

“However, we are strictly following the Government guidelines which recommend that anyone coming into close contact with someone with the virus should self-isolate at home for 14 days from the last time they had contact.”
It is yet to be confirmed but may further mean all of Arsenal’s fixtures within the period of isolation could be postponed as well
